AC Milan has confirmed that defender Tijjani Reijnders is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury.

The Dutchman, who joined the club in January from Ajax, has struggled for form and fitness since his move to Italy, but was hopeful of returning to full training soon.

However, it seems that his recovery has been delayed by the injury he picked up during a match against Udinese on Sunday.

Reijnders is expected to undergo surgery and will be out for at least six months, which means that he won't be available for the remainder of the Serie A season.

The news comes as a blow for AC Milan,Campeonato Brasileiro Direct who were already without key players such as Christian Zaccardo and Antonio Badelz.

The club's medical staff have worked hard to try and get Reijnders back to full fitness, but unfortunately it looks like this won't happen in time.

It's a tough blow for the team, especially given the importance of their defence and the fact that they're currently struggling to maintain their position in the league table.

But with the likes of Gianluigi Donnarumma and Giacomo Raggi in goal, there should still be enough quality on the pitch to keep the team afloat until Reijnders returns.

In the meantime, the club will need to look for other ways to cope with the loss of Reijnders and hope that he recovers quickly so that he can return to action as soon as possible.
